Bianco
Riverside
Restaurant
Modern European cooking and craft cocktails on the banks of the Wear — in a riverside room that's been serving Sunderland since 1724.

BIANCO RIVERSIDE
Best seat on the river
Our enclosed riverside restaurant looks straight out over the Wear, with the Wearmouth Bridge on one side and the mouth of the river on the other. Glass all the way round, warm inside whatever the weather — and the same view the Glass Centre gets of us.
Our Story
A riverside room with a long memory
Bianco Riverside is the third home of the Bianco family — after Washington and Sunderland — and the first to sit right on the water. The building has stood on High Street East since the early 1700s, when this stretch of Sunderland's East End was all glassmakers, shipwrights and ships' chandlers.
We've kept the brick, the beams and the arches, and added a glass terrace over the Wear. The kitchen is modern European with Italian roots: North Sea fish, Durham beef, handmade pasta, and a wine list that leans south.
